Technician Resumes

As the title of your job would suggest, as a technician, you ought to be highly technical! This doesn’t mean that you will naturally be a great writer, but it does give you an advantage in that you should be able to structure your resume very well, and any prospective employer will be looking out for traits that will mark you out as a good technician. If you follow this brief guide it should give you the structure needed to be able to produce a fine Technician Resume and cover letter.

You should start off your application with your Technician cover letter. You need to indicate that you would like to be considered for the job as advertised, and you should give reasons why you feel that you would be suitable for the role, and why you would enjoy working in the role. In order to do this, you will of course have to refer to your experience and your qualifications, but try to brush upon these subjects, as you will be divulging more information within your resume. Your cover letter needs to act as a lead in to your Technician Resume, so try not to give too much information early on, merely say enough to persuade the prospective employer to read the Resume.

Once the Technician cover letter is finished, you need to start off your Technician Resume. This should always start with an objective e statement. You should study the job description closely before putting this together, because you need to make sure that what is effectively a career objective for you strongly relates to the key skills needed for this post. If they are looking for someone who is interested in a specific area of IT then you need to make your objective look like this is one of the main areas of interest for you. This is not to say that you should repeat the job description verbatim, but you definitely need to closely match it.

The next section of your Technician Resume should focus on your career experience. You should start off with the most recent job you have held, and work backwards from there. Each position needs to be expanded upon significantly, and ideally you need to show that career progression has occurred. Try to draw out particular duties you have had to do in previous posts that you know are required for the position you are going for, and mention that you have worked in a similar environment doing the same work.

For your education section, you should also work backwards, starting from your most recent qualification. This section can also include certificates or qualifications that you have been awarded during your working life. You should always expand on any qualifications that are specific to being a technician, and try to show that your education has been directed towards this sort of work.

The final section of your Technician Resume should be for anything that you have not been able to fit in anywhere else. This can include things like first aid certificates, successful work placements during college, really anything that you think will aid your application but does not have a rightful place anywhere else in the application.
