Trader Resumes


If you want to work as a trader, you will need to be able to think on your feet, have a head for figures and a great knowledge of the worlds markets. It is a position which can make you a lot of money, but naturally for a position such as this, there can be an awful lot of competition for positions. To be able to land a role you need to put together an excellent Trader Resume and cover letter.

You should start off your application with a Trader cover letter. Make sure you introduce yourself to the reader, and take the time to formally apply for the position. You should also use the opportunity to give some reasons why you should be given consideration for the role. First of all you could mention your qualifications, and you could also mention your experience as a trader, but remember that all of this will be covered in your Trader Resume, so you should only mention this briefly here.

Once you have finalised your Trader cover letter you should get straight on and start to put together your Trader Resume. Start off with an objective which captures the imagination. You need to explain what sort of position you are looking for, but you also need to make sure this statement relates to the position for which you are applying. You can make sure this happens by using the job description as a guide.

Once this is completed your Trader Resume needs a section which gives a summary of your skills. You should indicate how many years you have been trading for, and then make a list of your main attributes in the field. You can mention things like your existing knowledge of stocks and shares, an ability to process OTC equity derivatives, and great analysis skills.

The next section of your Trader Resume should focus on your professional experience. You should list all of your previous positions, starting from your current or most recent post, and work backwards. Make sure you expand on all positions, explaining what you did in each post. You should try to mention things like having given back office support, mention if you have worked in the role of accounts payable officer, you can mention if you have experience of record document analysis, and you should mention if you have used Bloomberg, Swift or Trade Web to process trades.

The final section of your Trader Resume should be about your qualifications. There are no hard and fast rules here, but it will help you to be able to show that you have been educated to degree level. Even better is a finance based degree such as accountancy or business management.
