Dear Mr. Paradis,

I’m writing this letter to signify my interest in the zoo keeper position now available with your organization. I believe I have the proper education and past training needed to be the best candidate for this job and would appreciate your consideration.

I’m working towards a career in which I can help save endangered species and make animals living in captivity more comfortable by maintaining a proper facility. This job puts me in the perfect position to pursue this career while obtaining the first-hand experience needed to reach my long-term goals.

I have the qualifications needed to successfully fill this position starting with a degree in wildlife management. I worked part-time as a caretaker of animals with a small facility in which I worked directly with the animals. Some of the duties I performed included preparing and serving food and water to the animals, cleaning cages or holding area, making sure animals got proper exercise and even bathing certain animals when necessary.

My education has taught me how to recognize health issues and to know when something needs to be reported. I have the physical strength and other qualities needed to work in this type of environment and I’m flexible enough to work nights, weekends and holidays. Please contact me at (555)-555-5555 to set up an interview in which to talk more about the zoo keeper position being offered by Greenville Zoo.
