MIT Acceptance Letter

At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology admissions department, you will often have the responsibility of corresponding with students – most importantly, notifying them of their acceptance into the school. Acceptance in a good school is an honor for the student and you will want your letter to properly represent the dignity and professionalism of MIT. Here is a quick, helpful guide to writing a formal MIT acceptance letter in an official yet cordial manner.

Format and Content

An official MIT acceptance letter format should include approximately three paragraphs. Open with a congratulations to the student for his or her acceptance, perhaps mentioning a few details regarding the application. Give all the necessary details for enrollment, as well as your contact information in case the student has any questions. Close with an appropriate expression of appreciation for the student’s choice of school and sign and date the letter properly, as shown in the below example. Be sure to write with proper grammar and spelling on an official MIT letterhead.
