Here are Flight Attendant Cover Letter Examples:

Dear Human Resources Director:

My name is Carmen Sellers and I have been a flight attendant for the past 4 years at ABC International Airlines. I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese; therefore my flights have mostly been from New York to Spain, Portugal or Brazil. Although I have greatly enjoyed my career thus far with ABC I have recently had a baby boy and would like to work on domestic flights where I can return home the same day instead of international flights that require overnight stays. I understand that XYZ Industries has a fleet of corporate jets and most flights are from New York to Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C. and Baltimore. This is the kind of flight schedule that I greatly desire.

Aside from my duties of ensuring passenger comfort, stowing carry-on luggage and explaining safety procedures, I was also primarily responsible for documenting the inventory of supplies and making certain there were adequate provisions on the plane prior to departure. International flights require the serving of full meals as well as snacks, blankets and sleep masks and I am accustomed to the extra work. The captain with whom I usually fly is aware of my desire to find a flight attendant job that will allow me to be at home most nights and he has generously written a letter of recommendation for me which is included with my attached resume.

Over the years, I have had my share of emergencies. From loss of cabin pressure requiring the need for oxygen masks to extreme turbulence that resulted in hysterical passengers and an unscheduled landing at an alternate airport to an actually crash landing on a beach in Massachusetts, my emergency training has allowed me to remain calm and help keep all passengers safe with few injuries and no fatalities. I hope you will seriously consider my application and resume. I believe I would serve your organization well if afforded a chance to fly for XYZ Industries. I am able to schedule an interview at your convenience and can be reached at (555)-555-5555 or [email]

Respectfully,

Carmen Sellers

Example 2 -Unadvertised Opening

This flight attendant cover letter example is from a college graduate who speaks fluent Japanese and is applying for any flight attendant job, but would prefer a U.S. to Japan flight. One of her professors has given her a reference letter and she is studying for the FAA certification exam.

Dear Human Resources Director:

My name is Amy Ling and I just graduated from State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality. It has always been my dream to be a flight attendant and specifically work on flights between the U.S. and Japan. I am fluent in Japanese as I am the daughter of a mother born and raised in Vermont and a father born and raised in Tokyo. Growing up in a bilingual household has made me just as comfortable speaking Japanese as I am speaking English.

While in college I took courses that I believe will help me perform well as a flight attendant on both domestic and international flights. My course work included organizational behavior, sociology, interpersonal skills, strategic management, psychology, human resources, tourism, computer technology, business communications, ethics and service leadership. I am also studying now to prepare for the FAA certification test required of flight attendants.

While in college I worked at the front desk of the XYZ City Hotel which gave me a great deal of customer service experience. I learned how to deal effectively with all kinds of customers to make sure that each one checked out of the hotel with a positive experience. I learned organizational, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills as well as computer and accounting skills. My resume is attached and includes references letters from one of my college professors, Dr. Daniel Sharp as well as from my supervisor at XYZ City Hotel, Martha Reese.

I am willing and able to work any hours and any flights. I would appreciate being considered for any flight attendant position at ABC Airlines and I am available for a personal interview any time at your convenience. I can be reached at (555)-555-5555 or via email at [email] Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Example 3 – Response to Job Postings and Classifieds Ads

This flight attendant cover letter example is from a hotel concierge who wishes to change careers and go to work as a flight attendant. The applicant also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. The hotel manager provided a letter of reference for the applicant.

Dear Human Resources Director:

My name is Kirsten Koch and I am the evening concierge at the XYZ Hotel and Resort. I began working at XYZ 4 years ago right out of college and advanced to concierge 2 years later. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and have begun studying for the FAA flight attendant certification exam in preparation for changing careers. I have won Employee of the Year at XYZ for the past 3 years. I greatly enjoy customer service and strive to make sure all clients have a satisfactory stay at XYZ.

I have always been interested in working as a flight attendant, but few airlines were hiring when I graduated from college in 2009. Although I enjoy my concierge job, I would like to make a change to the career I originally desired. I found your job posting which indicates that you are looking for bilingual flight attendants. Along with English, I am fluent in Spanish and German. My mother is from Argentina and my father is from Germany; therefore I grew up learning their native language plus my own.

I have a great deal of experience in customer service and have taken continuing education courses in leadership and communication. I believe I have a lot to offer ABC Airways and would appreciate the opportunity to work for your highly respected airline. I know that ABC has one of the best overall records among airlines in the U.S. and that is one of the main reasons I would like to work there. I am ready and willing to work any flight to any destination and am excited at the prospect of this career change.

My resume along with a reference letter from my manager are attached. I hope that you will consider me for one of the open flight attendant positions. I am available for a personal interview any time at your convenience and I can be reached on my cell phone at (555)-555-5555 or by email at [email] Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
