Developmental Editor Cover Letter Example
Here is the Developmental Editor Cover Letter example:
Dear Ms. Madeline Moody,
I would like to be considered for the Developmental Editor position that is available at McGraw-Hill Education.
I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in English and have worked as an editor in the industry for nearly a decade. I have also worked with authors to help them develop their ideas into full manuscripts or to take their manuscripts and turn them into coherent and readable works. I have also worked in educational publishing where I was the researcher and also aided the writer in organizing the manuscript and checked to ensure all content was accurate.
I am well organized and can take hand written notes or any other type of data and put them into an order that makes sense for the writer. This is done by using sound logic and ensuring that the text describes, explains and defends the thesis of the work. I also check to ensure the tone of the content and the style and format are correct for the target audience. Consistency is also vital in any publication and it also must be clear and articulate and ensuring this is also a strong point of my editing skills.
I am in no way a copy editor because I prefer to be on the start of any project rather than the finalization of it. However, I have had copyeditors who were very happy with the finished product I helped put together since it made their job much easier.
I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you in more detail about your development editor opening. Feel free to contact me anytime at (555)-555-5555.
Respectfully,
Daniel Gray
