Dear Ms. Roberta Steele,

I am very interested in the Reservoir Engineer job available with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.

This is the position I have been preparing for and I meet all of the requirements listed in the advertisement. I have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and my courses covered geology, fluid mechanics and drilling engineering. I took a few specialized courses that covered drilling mechanics and petroleum economics and I am state licensed as an engineer.

I am familiar with computer modeling, imaging programs and similar equipment used in locating natural gas and oil. I have a complete understanding of the drilling process and the structural changes that can take place and I have the knowledge to make the necessary adjustments.

I have good head for business and I have acquired the skills to evaluate the risks and calculate the expenses associated with each technique used in drilling. I also have the skills to study how much fuel a reserve holds, to determine if it is worth the expense to retrieve it.

I have excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to anyone, even if they are unfamiliar with engineering terminology. I always maintain a professional and friendly attitude, which is important in order to maintain an open communication between the engineering team and the corporate office.
