Communication Officer Cover Letter

Dear Ms. Bradley,

I am pleased to write you with regard to my candidacy for the posting of Communication Officer, which was advertised in today’s newspaper. For the past eight years I have been employed in public relations at CACI International Inc., where I was responsible for the writing and editing of a wide variety of documents – from brochures and press kits, to web pages, to speeches and formal reports.

My educational experience is in journalism, and my first jobs were for local radio stations and newspapers. Although I have moved on to work for larger companies, I will always cherish the time I spent working in a media setting. I am quite honestly thrilled to have the opportunity to return to those roots!

In addition to my writing and research skills I have developed the ability to work under intense pressure, and to manage several projects at once. I have a keen eye for detail, and excellent fact-checking skills. I believe that accuracy is as important to communications as good diction, correct grammar, or developing one’s voice.

I am quite happy working independently when the project calls for it, but I am also a strong team player and a leader who sets the example for others to follow. I am resourceful, and not afraid to take initiative. I am flexible when it comes to work hours and job assignments. I am at home when it comes to networking and social media, and I have no problem at all speaking in public.

I welcome the chance to further discuss my credentials. Won’t you please call? I can be reached at (555)-555-5555.
