Boat Mechanic Cover Letter

Posted in Cover Letters

Dear Ms. Duncan,

I am writing to apply for the Boat Mechanic position now available with Cabela’s Inc.

I have spent the last three years repairing boat engines professionally but before that, I spent many years working on boat motors for myself personally and for friends. For this reason, I know that I have the experience that you seek.

I have a good eye for detail, excellent reasoning skills and great hand-eye coordination. I can fix or replace any part of the engine that needs repaired from spark plugs to the steering mechanisms. In addition, I can do a complete overhaul of the engines if needed.

I have experience working on Mercury and Evinrude motors and I have worked on both the outboard and inboard engines. However, my specialty is working on the Johnson inboard/outboard engines. I have spent most of my time working on these motors and I saw in your posting that you are searching for a mechanic with lots of experience working on Johnsons.

I can also check out the engines to determine what is wrong to provide customers with an estimate of what repairs will cost. I also have the ability to communicate easily with customers. Sometimes, just listening to the information given by the owner, will help you figure out what is causing the problem.

When more information is needed, I have experience running diagnostic tests and troubleshooting techniques to determine the problems so I can then provide the customer with an estimate before any repairs are made.

I am available anytime for an interview and you can reach me by calling (555)-555-5555.
