I am applying for the Community Service Officer position that has recently opened up at American Jewish World Service.

I have a real desire to serve the community by helping to keep its residence safer and this position would allow me to put my talents to work in this way. I have extensive knowledge of the laws and ordinances that govern the state. I am also familiar with criminal law and procedures that include the laws surrounding collecting and handling evidence and classifying crimes.

I have the ability to patrol the assigned neighborhoods and other areas to help deter criminals in an attempt to keep the community safer. I can respond to emergency and non-emergency situations of all types including traffic incidents and natural disasters.

I have the skills to take statements from victims and witnesses, fill out incident reports and other paperwork and to conduct investigations when necessary. I have the ability to learn how to perform basic crime scene duties and I have the communication skills needed to testify in court. I can follow instructions precisely and I have excellent decision-making skills with the ability to make the right call when faced with important decisions.

I have the skills and ability to deal with individuals that are upset, disoriented or violent in a professional but sympatric manner. I am CPR certified, I know first aid procedures and I know how to properly deal with minor and serious injuries. I am in good physical and mental health with the ability to perform the duties required by this position. I have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record and I can work any shift required.
