I am applying for the Development Chef position that is currently available at Think Food Group.
I currently hold a culinary arts degree and have worked in the food industry my entire life and have a passion for putting together great ingredients to make a wonderful meal. I have also taken courses in experimental food methods and in food science to understand how different foods and ingredients work together. I have also been a head chef and have built menus and foods to create signature dishes for the restaurants I have worked at.
I moved from restaurant work to work for a food production company in order to develop prepackaged foods for both retail and private use such as for airlines. I understand the need to have foods that not only are easy to prepare or to warm up but that also offer nutritional value and great taste. Both these types of development cooking required a great deal of time for testing and ensuring that only a quality product was perfect before being offered to the public.
I have a great deal of patience and creativity and feel that food should not only be nutritious and great tasting but should also be appealing to the eyes. It is a common fact that we eat with our eyes first and if food does not look appealing people are not likely to purchase it. This was more challenging when working with airline food as there is a difference in taste buds during higher altitudes so that had to be taken into consideration too.
