Posted in Cover Letters

Dear Ms. Rachel Knight,

I am writing to apply for the Diesel Truck Mechanic job now available at Buddy Storbeck’s Diesel Service, Inc. and my credentials match the qualifications listed in your posting.

I began preparing for this position by earning an associate degree in diesel and heavy equipment technology. My courses focused on braking, steering, power train, fuel systems and hydraulics. I also learned how to perform preventative maintenance to help reduce the need for repairs. My studies included hands on training through an internship where I learned how to use the diagnostic equipment and other tools and machinery used to perform this job.

I have the training and skills to troubleshoot problems, find the source and make timely repairs. I have the skills to read and understand the service manuals provided by the manufactures and to use this information to help ensure work is performed according to the specifications of the warranty when applicable.

I possess a steady hand and very good eye-hand coordination. I am team oriented but I am also self-motivated with the ability to get the job done in an efficient and timely manner when working independently. When in-between jobs, I have the ability and motivation to keep the tools and shop clean and organized to help maintain a safe work environment.

I am dedicated, trustworthy and dependable. I am looking forward to meeting with you in person to discuss the particulars of this position in more detail. I am confident that I can be a great asset to your company.
