Dynamic Assistant Marketing Manager Job Description

Summary

An assistant marketing manager’s main job is to support the marketing manager by performing a plethora of tasked assigned to him/her. The assistant helps with advertising of products, negotiating with companies and haggling with service or product prices, and create marketing strategies that will help in increasing the revenue of his/her employer’s business.

Duties

An assistant marketing manager works hand in hand with his manager, as well as the upper management of the company. Assistant marketing managers have the opportunity to lead small projects, but they generally help their managers in delivering marketing strategies prepared by the marketing managers to the director, then to their advertising department. Assistant marketing managers also help in the compilation of their products by making a database for it and assist the upper management by directing the employees to apply and follow the new and up-to-date marketing strategies they have come up with. The assistant marketing manager may be assigned by the manager to create a design/layout to put in their ads. This includes creating a storyboard for commercials and the like. Assistant marketing managers must be able to conduct training as well as produce training materials, presentations and handouts. They must also be willing to help in taking on the duties of the manager when the marketing manager is not around.

Education and Training Requirements

Employers require potential assistant marketing managers to have at least a bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, business management or communications. Those with master’s degrees are not required, but are preferred.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

To be successful in this field, one must be results-oriented, organized and be a good leader. He/she must have excellent written and oral skills. Literacy in computers, the internet and editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are necessary. Assistant marketing managers must be able to follow directions well and be able to apply them flawlessly. They should also possess excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, negotiation skills, verbal and written communication skills, marketing skills and leadership skills.

Working Conditions

An assistant marketing manager needs to be at the office 8 hours a day during weekdays. He/she works the typical business hours, but may need to extend his working hours to the weekend if there is a project working on. He may be required to attend meeting and seminars held outside the office. Travel may be included in the job description.

The average salary for an assistant marketing manager is $50,000 annually. Their average salary is dictated by its industry and location. It differs per company. Usually, the more experience you have, the higher the salary and the more benefits you receive.
