Speech Therapist Responsibilities and Duties

Evaluate, coordinate and administer quality speech therapeutic techniques to patients with speech & language disorders.

Administer therapeutic techniques also to patients with speech, hearing and oral motor disorders.

Organize and conduct speech therapy programs in home health settings.

Follow physicians’ orders and evaluate and administer treatment to patients referred for speech therapy.

Communicate patient status and therapeutic interventions to the physician and other appropriate professionals.

Administer medically prescribed therapy programs to help patients reach their maximum performance levels.

Provide therapy treatments using innovative techniques and evidence-based standards of practice.

Monitor and document the status of patients and therapeutic interventions.

Educate patients and their families regarding cognitive, communication and swallowing disorders.

Monitor, train and manage speech therapy students and other appropriate staff.
