Design and Development Engineer Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and utilize project functional specifications, timelines for engineering tasks and DFMEA’s for components and assemblies.

Investigate and revise design patent opportunities and infringements.

Generate patent disclosures and develop design packaging layouts.

Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies for projects.

Develop and present engineering component and assembly drawings.

Implement Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) on engineering drawings.

Produce and utilize DVPR’s for product validation.

Resolve product issues related to existing and new designs under test and document using company’s online problem resolution process.

Execute Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessment on project components and assemblies.

Control and ensure compliance certification to government standards.

Execute Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on components and assemblies.

Design and develop new product complying with company’s process (NP&SI).

Involve in other functions within company and external suppliers on design-related matters.

Demonstrate regularly use and application of engineering principles theories, concepts and techniques.

Mentor input informally to others when applicable or necessary.
