Environmental Scientist Responsibilities and Duties

Gather and analyze environmental data including air, water, soil contaminations, and other meteorological information.

Perform environmental experiments to measure emissions and maintain appropriate records of findings.

Develop ways to control and reduce environmental impacts.

Develop and present environmental scientific records to management, conference and public hearings.

Prepare permit applications and maintain environmental permits.

Develop and enforce environmental standards and practices.

Ensure that industrial operations are in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.

Attend project meetings, make site visits and assist in developing project budget and timelines.

Work with management in project staffing, cost control, quality control and safety activities.

Coordinate project activities to ensure timely completions and within deadlines.

Assess potential risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans.

Address client queries and provide assistance to team members when required.

Work with emergency response team in clearing chemical spills and accidents.

Investigate accidents and analyze root causes and develop corrective action plans.

Advise management on most effective ways of waste treatment and disposal procedures to avoid environmental contaminations.
