Transmission Planning Engineer Responsibilities and Duties

Assist to direct and review transmission planning related technical studies.

Design transmission substation conceptual layouts and provide input to capital budget and regulatory support.

Perform operations planning studies, assist administration of IPP’s as well as on-site generation.

Supervise small engineering team to perform transmission planning technical studies.

Conduct power system evaluation required to develop baseline Regional Transmission Expansion Plan.

Identify and analyze transmission system reinforcements needed to resolve reliability as well as operational issues and enhance economic efficiency.

Conduct adequacy as well as reliability assessments for organization system.

Identify and support to develop new, innovative methods as well as tools in planning process.

Develop reports as well as presentations to assist activities of System Planning Division.

Recommend feasible solutions to company management on execution of new bulk power facilities, procedures, programs and policies.

Develop and maintain all necessary transmission system models needed to develop Regional Transmission Expansion Plan.

Perform with transmission owner personnel and varied stakeholders personnel to develop and refine Regional Transmission Expansion Plan.

Perform with various members of System Planning Division to resolve complex engineering issues.

Represent enterprise on industry committees, stakeholder groups and task forces participating issues associated with planning as well as engineering.

Provide project assistance to assure needed reports are as per time filed and efforts well documented.
