A new elementary school has opened in a suburban community and the school has no playground equipment because the board of education provides land for a playground, but it does not pay for the actual equipment. The newly formed Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has decided to make raising money for the playground equipment a top priority. They are addressing the need for the equipment in this annual appeal letter sample addressed to each parent.
The officers of ABC Elementary School would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your family to this new school with top-notch teachers and state-of-the-art technology. Although the school is surrounded by beautiful landscaping, the one major amenity that is missing is fun and safe playground equipment for the children. That brings us to the crux of our letter to you, parents of one or more children attending ABC Elementary School.
Statistics show that children who are afforded some time each day to go outside, get some fresh air, run off their excess energy and play with their friends tend to behave better during class time and focus better on their classroom activities. Right now the children who have just started school at the brand new ABC Elementary have only an open field on which to play with no playground equipment whatsoever.
As a first step toward raising funds to purchase playground equipment, we are soliciting donations from parents. The money donated for this cause will go into a special bank account that has been established specifically for ABC Elementary School playground equipment. After we see how much can be raised by donations only, we may have several fundraising events to help collect enough money for the equipment.
We would like to invite you to the first ABC Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization meeting scheduled for September 26 at 7:00p.m. in the school cafeteria. At this time, the PTO officers will present various options for playground equipment and also hold a vote to determine which equipment the parents prefer.
