Sales Resignation Letter

As a salesperson, you may be on the lookout for a different job, getting ready to go back to school, or have some other reason for quitting your job. If this is the case, you are in a situation where it is very important to maintain professionalism and courtesy. One of the first things you should do is to write a formal sales resignation letter and send it in to your employers. This is a great way to show them that you are a professional who wishes to resign gracefully without leaving behind any negative feelings in the workplace.

Format and Content

To make your sales resignation letter format look as polished and businesslike as possible, follow these strategies. Write approximately three paragraphs, being sure to proofread for correct grammar and spelling. After letting your boss know when you will be vacating the position, include your contact information and any important work-related details, closing with a brief but sincere expression of gratitude for the job and the experience you were able to earn. Send in a copy of your letter for Human Resources to put on file, as well as one directly to your boss and one to keep for yourself.

Dear Ms. Perez,

I am writing to let you know that I am resigning from my sales position at ABC Company. I have recently decided to try to take my career in a different direction and feel that this decision is in the best interest of both myself and ABC Company. My last day of work will be June 15, 2014, so please accept this letter as my official two weeks’ notice of resignation from ABC Company. I appreciate your patience and cooperation with me at this time.

I will of course work as hard as ever during my last two weeks and put forth all efforts to minimize any inconvenience to ABC Company. If I can be of any assistance in selecting or training a replacement to take over my duties, I would be happy to oblige. I also hope to receive a positive reference to aid in my job search. If you need to discuss any of these matters with me further, please contact me at (555)-555-5555 or [email] I look forward to hearing from you.

I have enjoyed the interesting work and environment at ABC Company and will miss everyone there. I am very grateful for the excellent job experience I have earned, but I feel that I have made the best decision. I wish ABC Company continued success and thank you for your understanding.

Yours sincerely,

Chelsea Barlage
