Introduction Letter

Posted in Sample Letters

Dear (Mr./Mrs./Ms.) followed by last name,

In your first sentence or two, introduce yourself and summarize the reason for your letter; explain why you are writing.

The second and third paragraphs will be the main body of your introduction letter. In this area, briefly describe the skills and qualification you possess that relate to the job opening. Quickly mention a related accomplishment in past employment, and let the reader know that you have researched the company; point out particular aspects that caught your attention.

In closing, thank the recipient for taking the time to read your letter and consider you for the job; also invite them to read your resume. Show them you are excited about the prospect of getting the job, and ask for an interview or meeting.

Sincerely,

Your signature

Always be sure to sign your name directly above your typed signature. Proofread your introduction letter for errors in spelling or grammar and make any necessary changes.

In writing your introduction letter, always use simple fonts that are easy to read, and type it on white or cream colored paper so that it is clean and professional in appearance.
