Job Acceptance Letter

When an individual accepts a job with any company and in any industry, it is always important to write and send a formal job acceptance letter. Not only does this confirm all of the details of the position that is being accepted, but it also shows initiative and respect. This letter should be brief, it should convey all of the details of the acceptance, and it should thank the employer for his or her decision to hire the individual writing the letter.

Format and Content

To follow the proper job acceptance letter format, it should contain several very important pieces of information. First and foremost, it should contain a sincere thank you to the employer and name the exact position for which the writer was hired. It should also include position details without being too specific; general details are all that are needed here. The terms and conditions of the employment, such as the salary that is being accepted as well as any benefits, should also be mentioned within the body of the letter. Finally, the writer should always include the starting date of employment. The letter should be thorough, yet brief.

Dear Mr. Gerard,

As we discussed following my final interview with you, I am looking forward to accepting the Head Chef position at Goliath restaurant. Thank you so much for the opportunity. I am very excited and truly honored to be able to share my experience and expertise with the other chefs who work for you, and I am sure that Goliath will continue to provide excellent service to the community during my employment.

Similarly, as we discussed, I have noted that my starting salary will be $50,000 per year and that I will have health and life insurance after 60 days of employment. I also understand that salary increases are annual and based upon my performance. I feel that my years of expertise in four-star restaurants will be of value to your establishment and that my salary will be reflected in this.

Again, I look forward to my first shift at Goliath on August 1st, 2009. If you need me to provide you with any additional paperwork, credentials or information, please do not hesitate to let me know. I will be glad to provide this. Also, if you have any questions for me, you can reach me via telephone or email at any time.

Thank you again for the opportunity. I am very excited to be a part of your team!
