The job of an Online Teacher involves tutoring or teaching children, teenagers or adults in various subjects and performing tasks of regular teachers. The main difference with those who teach in classrooms and online teachers is the setting of classes. Some online teachers teach English to non-English speaking adults, while others tutor adults via online classes, even if they live thousands of miles away from their students.
A successful candidate must possess a teaching certificate or relevant experience in the chosen field and a stable internet connection. Some employers may require teachers to take local or international phone calls, so a personal landline may be necessary.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teaching skills, time management and organizational skills, interpersonal skills, advanced computer skills, and English proficiency. Online teachers should also be punctual, patient, friendly, reliable, creative, energetic and work well independently.
