I have a bachelor’s degree in public relations and three years of experience working in a customer service position. Through my education I learned the technical skills to use all types of office equipment such as scanners, copies and multi-line phone systems. I also gained excellent computer skills that include using word processing and MS programs.
While earning my degree, I have learned many marketing techniques that can be used to help up-sell products and increase revenue without seeming pushy or coming across as selling. I also learned how to manage accounts, prepare presentations and set up meetings to introduce new programs or ideas that can help your company meet its objectives.
Working in a customer service position requires not only great communication skills but active listening skills as well. In order to serve customers better, you have to listen to their problems, concerns and have the ability to answer any questions they may have. When faced with a situation that I cannot handle alone, I know how to professionally refer the client to someone more qualified without making them aggravated or making them feel like they are getting the runaround.
