Dear Ms. Alton Cain,

I am applying for a wait staff position with your restaurant Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants and have attached my resume for your convenience and consideration.

I have a high school diploma and have worked in the restaurant industry for over six years at a fast paced restaurant. It was my duty to prepare tables for new customers, to change the table cloths and ensure all tables had clean utensils and napkins. I also greeted all customers coming to the restaurant and presented a menu to the customers and took all orders for food and beverages. It was vital for all wait staff to maintain full knowledge on all available items on the menu along with side dishes and to ensure an optimal level of services to all customers.

When necessary I assisted the customers to select appropriate side dishes and drinks and communicated any special requirements to the kitchen staff. It was also important to ensure that an appropriate record of all customers’ orders was taken to ensure there were no discrepancies in billing. I also provided assistance to all customers and ensured an optimal level of satisfaction in the restaurant. It was also my responsibility to provide assistance to the supervisor and to administer all cleaning of the restaurant.

I have great communication skills that allowed me to develop and maintain a friendly relationship with the regular patrons of the restaurant and to manage the customer queries to ensure an appropriate resolution of any and all issues.
